What is the "Get Updates" feature? How do I get notification of events of interest to me?
It's a real time-saver – and it's free! Click on "Get Updates", create your own log-in and password and fill out a brief profile of your particular interests and needs. Each week Technopoli will email you new opportunities in the calendar that match your needs. No searching, no surfing. By the way, we won't share your profile or any other information you provide at Technopoli with anyone.

How can I submit events to Technopoli?
First, check out the criteria for submitting events, and the benefits of submitting your events to Technopoli. Then, click "Add Events" on the homepage. If you're a first time user, set up your log-in and password. Once that's done, you can enter events by clicking on "Add Events" and logging in.
On the "Submit a New Event" form, provide general information about the event, how to contact you, and information about your organization. Then add information about your event, like academic focus, delivery method, format, subject, and audience. Then click "Submit". All these details are especially useful and important for event seekers who have signed up for the "Get Updates" service - they may be looking for what you offer!
We've tried to make entering events simple and convenient for you. When you complete the online form, we ask you if you want to "save it as a template" – that way when you come back and enter more events, you can use a previous event as a template – you don't have to re-type identical information!

Who owns Technopoli?
The short answer is no one - or everyone! Because OLN is a state agency, the owners of Technopoli are all Ohioans. OLN has taken the lead on developing the structure and will maintain it to benefit Ohio educators. Technopoli content and events are contributed by utilizing learning technologies. Improving student learning and performance through technology is our shared goal.
We also knew lots of great organizations were providing tremendous technology training resources to Ohio's educators. We knew that more people needed to be connected to these resources! So in the Ohio Learning Network's [HOTLINK] role as a clearinghouse and broker critical relationships, Technopoli was born!

How did you come up with the great-but crazy-name Technopoli?
Here's where we had a lot of fun! We held a contest-yes, a contest! The grand prize: a weekend at the Mohican State Park Lodge! We received 26 submissions from all over Ohio. One day, when the OLN staff was all together and in a really great mood, we voted. Technopoli won by a landslide! (In case you missed it, "Technopoli" is composed of pieces of three words: TECHNOLOGY OPPORTUNITY LISTINGS.)
We informed the winner and in appreciation of his creative genius, gave him a basket of high tech goodies with which to play, along with a calm and relaxing weekend at Mohican State Park Lodge. The winner? (And we are really proud of him!) was Dr. Larry Killian, Professor at Clark State Community College. Find out more about Dr. Killian!

I always forget passwords (I have so many to remember!), what should I do if I forgot my Technopoli password?
Great question with an easy answer! Each log-in page features a link that reads "Forgot your password?" Click on that and follow the simple instructions. Technopoli will automatically email you your password!
And remember, that's an automatic function – not one human being ever sees your password!

Will you share my personal information or preferences with anyone or another organization?
Absolutely not! We won't share the name, address, profile preferences, or any other information provided by event providers or event seekers at Technopoli with anyone.

That is a place where every organization that has offered events in Technopoli is listed. In this alphabetical directory, you can get a closer look at these provider organizations, and, if you wish, information about how to contact them.

What is "take our logo" in the submit events section?
There are many reasons we want to share our logo with event seekers and providers. The obvious one is that we want lots of people to know about Technopoli and visit the calendar often! We also want event providers to feel free to download the Technopoli logo and use it in their promotions, so that people know an event has been included by Technopoli. The Technopoli logo has another advantage. It is an easy visual reminder that means "this professional development opportunity is about utilizing technology for better teaching and learning." It's a simple idea; a visual clue for event seekers that saves time, reduces frustration, and creates an awareness of all the amazing training happening in our state!

Good question!
We want you to know that OLN is interested in how well Technopoli is working for you. That's why we ask if you are willing to agree to occasional surveys when you register to "Get Updates". Your feedback is extremely important to us, and we want to continue serving the technology training needs of Ohio educators. SO, please consider volunteering to provide occasional feedback! Rest assured, all information you provide will never be individually reviewed or shared, and no individuals will be identified. All data will be aggregated and utilized to tell the story of Technopoli and find new ways to improve what we do.
